If you’re thinking about joining a gym or starting with a personal trainer, it’s pretty normal to want to know whether it actually works.

Not just whether the gym has good equipment or whether somebody has left a five-star Google review.

You probably want to know what happened to people who were in a similar position to you.

Did they lose weight?

Did they get stronger and fitter?

Did they actually stick with it?

And what was the experience like once they joined?

At Adam Prowse Personal Training, we’ve collected more than 1,000 client success stories across our Maitland and Lake Macquarie communities.

Some involve significant weight loss. Others are about becoming stronger, moving better, improving fitness, or simply getting back into a consistent exercise routine.

And plenty of them aren’t perfect success stories either.

People have setbacks. They lose motivation. Life gets busy. Sometimes they stop training and have to start again.

That’s real life.

So rather than telling you what training at APPT is like, here are seven stories shared by actual APPT clients about their own experiences and results.

Anne Keith: Three Years of Training, Improved Strength, Fitness and Mobility

Adam prowse Client testimonial - Anne Keith
Anne originally joined APPT with weight loss as one of her main goals.

But after three years of training, she realised that some of the biggest changes weren’t necessarily the ones she saw on the scales.

Anne shared:

“When I first joined APPT 3 years ago, I failed (and regret) to take an honest ‘before’ pic. After appreciating others’ achievement posts, I was curious to flash back through my photos to actually SEE if I could notice a difference.

I am pleasantly surprised. While weight loss has long been my focus, I now acknowledge and appreciate the benefits and importance of my improved strength, fitness, flexibility, better mobility and reduced bilateral hip osteoarthritis and bursitis pain that regular training has gifted me.

I really appreciate the sense of community with which this crew have embraced me… and now hubby! I love that in our ‘chronologically gifted years’, training at APPT has become a priority in our weekly schedule and chosen lifestyle. Cheers to many more healthy years.”

Anne’s story is a good example of how someone’s reasons for continuing to exercise can change over time.

Weight loss might get you started, but feeling stronger, fitter and more capable can become just as important.

Those are Anne’s own reported experiences, including the changes she describes in her hip pain and mobility.

Helen Corlis: 11kg Lost in Nine Months

Helen Corlis- Client Testimonial
Helen shared some very specific results from her first nine months at APPT.

She wrote:

“In 9 months I’ve lost 11 kilo, 6% body fat, and 37 cms across my body; 3 kg and 15cm in the past 4 weeks. Thank you, Andrew, for your patience and encouragement; I could not have done it without you.

Things I can now do: getting up and down off the floor easily; squatting without falling over; my body moves better when walking, and I can run again. Just keep showing up, and the results follow.”

There are impressive numbers in there, but what stands out just as much is what Helen can now physically do.

Getting off the floor more easily, squatting, walking better and being able to run again are the sorts of improvements that can make a genuine difference to everyday life.

And Helen also points to something we talk about a lot at APPT: keep showing up.

Results don’t happen overnight, but consistency gives you the opportunity to keep improving.

Jade Cooper: 30kg Lost in Six Months

Jade Cooper 30kg Lost in Six Months
Jade shared a significant weight-loss result after joining APPT.

In her words:

“In the last 6 months after joining APPT, I have lost 30 kg. I have worked hard, going to the gym 4-5 days a week.”

That’s a substantial individual result, and Jade is also very clear about the work she put into achieving it.

She was consistently training four to five days each week.

Individual weight-loss results vary, and somebody else’s result isn’t a guarantee of what you will achieve. But Jade’s story shows what she personally achieved during her first six months at APPT.

Alicia Guest: Nearly a Year of Physical and Personal Change

Alicia Personal Transformation
Not every transformation can be summed up with kilograms or centimetres.

After nearly a year at APPT, Alicia described the changes she had experienced physically, mentally and emotionally.

She wrote:

“Nearly a year at APPT, I can’t be more proud of myself. I’ve come a long way since then, physically, mentally and emotionally. There’s no price on happiness, but where I was a year ago isn’t the same person today.”

What we like about Alicia’s story is that she’s describing her own progress in much broader terms than simply changing how she looks.

She’s proud of how far she’s come.

And ultimately, that’s what progress should be about.

Your goals might involve losing weight or changing your body composition, but becoming stronger, fitter, more confident and building exercise into your life can matter just as much.

Alicia’s post was also personally acknowledged by Chem Prowse and the APPT team, which reflects the coaching and community aspect that many clients mention in their stories.

Bianna Peta Miller: From 20 Seconds of Running to Two Minutes

Bianna Peta Miller Client Transformation
This is one of our favourite examples because the achievement might look small on paper, but it clearly wasn’t small to Bianna.

She didn’t enjoy running, and she wasn’t pretending that she did.

Bianna wrote:

“I think everybody knows now I hate running since the challenge. I have tried every day to get some running in. Before the challenge, I couldn’t run 20 seconds with a vest on or without. Yesterday I ran 2 minutes with it on… almost passed out, but I did it. It’s not a massive achievement to some, but it is for someone who loathes running.

Thanks for always pushing me, fam. To do better and be better.”

Going from 20 seconds to two minutes mattered to her.

That’s the point.

Progress doesn’t need to look impressive to somebody else.

If you can do something today that you couldn’t do a few weeks or months ago, that’s progress worth recognising.

And sometimes those smaller wins are exactly what keep you going.

Chantelle Watson: Four Years of Consistency

Chantelle Watson Four Years of Consistency
Chantelle has been training at APPT for around four years.

For her, one of the biggest achievements has simply been continuing to show up and challenge herself.

She shared:

“This journey has taught me that real change comes from showing up even on the hard days, and believing that you’re capable of more than you think. I believe it’s been 4 years since I joined, and I’m still showing up.

Thank you to the amazing APPT team for pushing me every step of the way!”

Four years is a long time to maintain an exercise routine.

There will always be weeks when training is easy to prioritise and others when work, family and life make it much harder.

That’s why consistency matters.

You don’t have to have a perfect week every week. You just need to keep coming back.

Chantelle’s coach, Andrew Jay, also responded personally to her post and recognised how consistently she continues to challenge herself.

Malissa Fishburn: 24kg Lost and Starting Again After a Setback

Malissa Fishburn 24kg Lost and Starting Again After a Setback
Malissa’s story is a little different.

She had already achieved a significant result at APPT, going from 89kg to 65kg and losing more than 40cm overall.

But then life changed.

After losing her grandfather, Malissa says she lost some of her confidence and fell out of the routine she had built.

She shared:

“It’s hard to know what to write, as I have lost my confidence, and it’s partially because after losing my grandfather, the world seemed very different, and then I let life get the better of me! But I have my happy place at APPT, and I am coming back to get back to my purpose.

I started at APPT at 89 and got down to 65 kg, and that’s not the best part; my shape changed, something like 40 plus cm lost overall!

We all fall off our path, but it makes us human; we get up, we reset, and keep becoming the best version of ourselves! My journey isn’t over, and I hope this inspires people to keep going when they lose their footing! APPT is more than a gym; it’s the home to many who are finding their own WHY!”

We think this is an important story to include because long-term progress rarely happens in a perfectly straight line.

People have difficult periods.

Training gets interrupted.

Motivation changes.

Sometimes you need to start again.

That doesn’t erase what you’ve already achieved.

Malissa’s story is a reminder that getting back into your routine after a setback can be an achievement in itself.

What Do These Seven APPT Client Stories Have in Common?

These seven people had different goals, different starting points and very different results.

But there are a few themes that come up repeatedly.

Consistency matters.

Whether someone has trained for six months or four years, progress comes from continuing to show up.

Results aren’t only measured on the scales.

Weight loss matters to plenty of our clients, but so do strength, fitness, mobility, confidence and being able to do things that used to feel difficult.

Support matters.

Several of these clients mention their coaches or the wider APPT community directly.

Having somebody who notices when you’re progressing, encourages you when things get difficult and expects you to turn up can make a big difference.

Setbacks happen.

You don’t lose all your progress because you have a difficult month or fall out of your routine.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply start again.

Why Real Client Stories Matter

Google ratings are useful.

But a star rating can only tell you so much.

It doesn’t tell you what somebody was struggling with before they joined.

It doesn’t tell you what they achieved.

And it definitely doesn’t tell you about all the ups and downs along the way.

That’s why we like sharing stories like these.

The seven examples above came from clients sharing their experiences within the APPT community. They weren’t written by us as marketing testimonials.

You can also see photos and videos from other clients.

They talk about what went well, what was difficult and what training at APPT has meant to them personally.

That gives you a much better idea of what the experience can actually look like.

Of course, everybody is different.

The results achieved by these clients aren’t a promise or guarantee of what somebody else will achieve.

Your starting point, goals, consistency, nutrition, training and individual circumstances all matter.

Our clients range from people who haven’t exercised in years through to experienced gym members who simply want more structure, coaching and accountability.

You don’t need to be fit before you start.

That’s what training is for.

More Than Just Joining a Gym

One of the biggest differences between simply having a gym membership and having proper coaching is accountability.

It’s easy to join a gym with good intentions.

The harder part is still training three months later.

Or six months later.

Or four years later, like Chantelle.

That’s why APPT combines the training itself with coaching, support and accountability.

The aim is to help you build something that works in real life, not just give you a workout and hope you stick with it.
